How well do you know Jesus? April
As part of our church fellowship "away" weekend. Pastor Michael will be focussing on Faith and Trust in God, particulalry with regard to the giving of Spiritual Gifts. Just as a small pre-cursor to that and for those who cannot attend, this will focus on the gifts that God gives us. God gives to each of faith, but some people get the gift of Spiritual Faith, which means they want to go deeper with God.
For many years I have felt that a lot of Christians are "paddling" around the edges of the spiritual river and not wanting to wade into the deeper parts of that river.
Obviously if we are saved, then we are saved and going deeper is not for every Christian, but to miss out on living our lives in a victorious way would surely be the desire of every Christian alive?
The one thing that I have learned is some Christians are jealous of the gifts that God gives others, but the problem is if you are jealous of someone elses gifts, you should be as the Apostle Paul says pursuing the spritual gifts that God will give. God gives to those who truly seek him in Spirit and in Truth, so why not try wading into the river to the deep parts and wait in faith, trusting God that he will give to the earnest seeker.

New Every Morning - By Michael Flynn May
I had a real struggle with this blog. Most blogs that I have read are trying to tell you about some one’s life or some product that will enhance your life by this means or that means. You have probably seen the ten point plan to wealth or some other life plan that YOU must do to fill your life. Every one of them has a solution to a BIG problem that only the author of the blog can help, at a cost to you (money).
So I decided to give you something for free. Insight into how Christians cope with struggles in life and rejoice in them.
The above phrase, New every morning goes back to 587 BC when Jerusalem was destroyed by the Babylonian army. Jeremiah the Old Testament prophet, when looking over the desolation of the City and Temple could see beyond his natural sorrow and grief and yet say, “The steadfast love of the lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.”
Over the years those words have inspired believers to stand strong in their faith. When all looks lost and there is no natural joy or even hope in what seems to be a disaster upon disaster, believers can hold fast in Jesus and work through life’s bitter blows in the full knowledge that God’s mercies never come to an end.
Think about Lutheran Pastor Dietrich Bonhohoeffer, when in prison awaiting his execution, prayed every morning….”O Holy Spirit, give me faith that will protect me from despair, from passions and from vice, give me such love for God and men as will blot out all hatred and bitterness; give me that hope that will deliver me from fear and faintheartedness.”
So whether your disaster is ISIS running amuck: Christians being beheaded: Christians been attacked in England by legal means; or your despair may be closer to home. I have tremendous heart ache for my family, none of whom follow Jesus. I pray for my Gay daughter, I pray for my unmarried daughter and her boyfriend and son, I pray for Katy who took an over dose, I even pray for my ex who’s to blame for Katy’s overdose, I pray that David will be happy at Surry Univeristy. Then I leave every problem at the foot of the cross and hope in God’s mercies.

You Are Only A Prayer Away From A Miracle by Sue Farr June
I was actually writing something else for this blog when I was interrupted by a telephone call from a friend who told me "testemonies are what are happening in lives and they are what people can relate to." This made me rethink what I was writing as I have a testimony to tell.
Its is brilliant how everything in life is a miracle. If we look around us we see them in all of nature, but sometimes God gives us supernatural miracles.
I teach an exercise class for the over 50's in Ashington and a few weeks ago one of my ladies told me that she had to have an operation and therefore wouldn't be at the class for at least 8 weeks. I asked her is she would like me to pray for her, (she isn't a Christian, but she agreed). Well last week she came into the class very happy and excited, saying prayer works!
She had gone to the hospital of her last test before the operation and the Doctor had told her that "he couldn't believe it, but there must have been a blip!, as she had no symptoms, everything was clear and she didn't need the operation. What a wonderful God we serve a true answer to prayer.
Do you believe in miracles? The Bible says in Hebrews 13 verse 8 that "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever".
If you believe this divine statement, Jesus must be alive today. He isn't just a living Jesus but the unchanged incomparable Jesus. In other words Jesus is able to perform His miracles of Grace and Healing today.
Many people believe that Jesus worked miracles in the times of the New Testament, but not today. Their estimation of Jesus is therefore contrary to God's word. They are preaching a different Jesus from the New Testatment Jesus.
I believe Jesus is the same today exactly as stated in the Scriptures. He is the Saviour of the world, the healer of our diseases and able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). The Bible says that Jesus is the same today, so what do we believe, the sceptics, the doubters or the infallible Word of God?
Believe, have faith and surrender all to Jesus and you will be able to thank Him for the miracle in your life!
Leave Nothing Undone - By Pastor Michael Hedley July
In our prayer meeting on Tuesday 7th of July, I had a real sense of God showing me a scripture, which after reading this portion many times, God showed me something, which is applicable to us as a Church and the wider church in general.
The Scripture is from the book of Joshua in the Old Testatment, Chapter 11 verse 15 and it is the final portion of the verse that struck me in particular. It says that "Joshua left nothing undone of the work that the Lord had commanded Moses". Joshua completed the work that another man of God had begun, but the words left nothing undone were what really struck me.
I believe as Christians we sometimes get prophetic words about ourselves and then parade them almost as trophies, recanting them many times over the ensuing years. Some people keep files of them. What struck me is that many of these prophetic words have never been completed. What God has shown me is that generally this is borne out of disobedience and we often miss out what God really has for us, by not testing out these "words", and by not acting upon them!
Joshua didn't leave anything undone and infact he left his Egypt behind completely. We as Christians need to leave behind the past and not erect monuments to the things of the past, but leave them behind. DO the things that God has called us to do now and leave God to keep our future on course and intact.
We all stepped over an imaginary line in our prayer group, that we would leave behind all things of the past and step into the future that God has prepared for us with a renewed vigour and start using the gifts that God has given us. We will leave nothing left undone that God asks us to do. The response has been very positive so far. Watch this space!
If God has given you a job to do DO IT! If the word has been tested don't go back and pray about it. DO IT. If God has given you natural abilities, USE THEM, and if God has given you Spiritual Gifts, USE THEM. To HIS Glory and leave nothing undone.
Our God Is An Awesome God September
As the song goes, our God is an awesome God, He reigns from heaven above, with wisdom power and love, our God is an awesome God.
When we look at the world around us and seeing the mess that it is in, do you get the feeling that it cannot go on much longer like this?
The Bible tells us that there will be a falling away in the last days and that the love of many will grow cold, sin and evil will be more rampant that ever before.
But God tells us not to fear for He is with us. Some people have the belief that God shouldn't be allowing the bad things to happen if He is a loving God. Well unfortunately, sin came in at the fall and destroyed what God had planned for us which was communion with Him.
The biggest problem in the world is greed and the love of power. God did not choose this for us, but it is present because of our fall.
God has provided a way through all of our hurts and trials and that is through Jesus. Knowing Him provides comfort, peace, joy everlasting, when you really know Him.

As the seasons change, we reflect upon the season that has just passed. Summer seems like a distant memory and Autumn is now fully upon us. The colours of Autumn are in full splendour and we celebrate the harvest that we now have. Summer has been a busy one with many new opportunities arising and we have been so blessed by God's provision. In October we will be celebrating the 5th year of our fellowship. Over the past 5 years we have experienced many seasons, sometimes feeling like they are all one, but God continues to amaze us and guide us in His will.
We have established a good relationship with our brothers and sisters in the Guide Post WRU and we have been made to feel really welcome there as well as being able to use their facilities for the many outreach opportunities we have developed. Their help has been amazing and encouraging, particularly Dennis and Mary, whose wisdom and help have been uplifiting to us all.
We now look forward to new opportunities that God gives us, working together as one for God's glory.
As the Christmas season approcahes we will be blasted with a wealth of Television Adverts screaming at us to buy a certain product or shop at a particular store. We will have the culmination to Strictly Come Dancing and the X Factor shows, all of whom will be clamouring for our attention to watch their shows.
We seem to get lost in the busyness of Christmas and the whole lead up to it produces much stress for those involved in present buying, dinner preparation, party going and at work everything seems to get lost amid the party season.
The clamour for Christmas seems to start earlier each year and even advertisers seem to start ever earlier in the year. The first batch of Christmas store ads have started to appear in the last week of October, but one in particular caught my attention. It is the Burberry advert in which they use the nativity as it setting, but replace Jesus with a handbag.
My immediate response was one of shock, how could a piece of leather worth £900 be placed against the Saviour of the World. My second thought was, if this was an advert showing Mohammed wearing a burberry hat, there would be an outcry amongst the Muslims.
It seems that every year we as Christians seem to have everything about our faith being attacked and mocked. Evolutionary (Theory) is the new religion, our so called intolerance is attacked more and more, being labelled homophobic, racist, etc etc etc.
But this bag advert can be used by Christians to show that we are not a people who complain at being criticised all the time, but infact we can use it to open up discussions about our faith. To me at least I say this as a challenge, lets rise up to it.

The Greatest Gift December
In the Bible it tells us that the angels sang announcing the birth of Jesus Christ the Saviour of the World. When we meet together in fellowship we proclaim the Lordship of Jesus in our lives as our Saviour and friend.
We know by now every year that once we get through Rememberance Sunday, into Children in Need and so on that the pace builds up towards Christmas rapidly. But I wonder how many of us actually slow down and take the time to think just what this great season means to us as Christians.
Each year it seems that Christmas starts earlier and we are bombarded with adverts on TV about what we need to buy for everyone for Christmas. Each year we clamour to buy more and more for our loved ones.
To me though I think of the greatest gift that was ever given to mankind and that is the gift of Jesus Christ. This gift came with no fancy ribbon, no delicate wrapping, no excess packaging and no gift card attached. And it cost us nothing!
Jesus birth was announced by prophets many years earlier by the Old Testament Prophets and when the angels sang on the night of His birth, many prophcies were fulfilled.
Jesus the true Son of God was born in a dirty stable surrounded by animals, wrapped only in swaddling cloths to very poor parents. This gift wasn't bought and neither can be, it wasn't paid for by good deeds, it wasn't advertised by marketing executives.
This gift was God's Son, His only true son, not created. Jesus is God in human flesh and He came as a gift to mankind to be saved from our sins. Thirty three years later the gift came fully to fruition on the cross, when but for Jesus all sin was finished on the cross if we will only believe.
The gift I choose this Christmas is that gift from God His Son Jesus Christ. Will you accept that same gift. It is most wonderful.
God bless you all and I hope that you enjoy this gift for the rest of eternity as it never fades or runs out.
Merry Christmas and a Happy and Peaceful New Year

On Saturday 18th of May Ayanfe Gdabebo, Haydn Bell and Sharon Delaney all went through the waters of baptism. The event was held at Bedlington Trinity Church, followed by a celebration tea at Word of Life WRU Church.
We had a wonderful time in the presence of God, where three new Christians went through the waters of baptism. Haydn shared his testimony which had many of us in tears. Pictures of the event will be uploaded soon.
On the 6th of July, we will be holding our annual Summer Praise Event. This is a celebration of God's glory and grace, and an opportunity to praise and worship God through song. The event once again will be a combination of modern worship songs as well as some more traditional chorusses.
All are welcome to attend and enjoy a special evening giving all the glory to God through out praise.
A wonderful service was held in the presence of God on Sunday 17th March 2019 to install three deacons into the church.
Graham and Valerie Baldwin and (Toks) Olaronke Ashiru Gbadebo were installed as new church deacons. They agreed to serve as deacons in the church providing assistance to the ruling elders in pastoral visits, maintenance of the church building and serving in general so that the church can properly function.
Photographs of the service are displayed below:
Our Mission House next door to the Church is available for bookings to stay for 1 to 30 nights. The house is used as a Christain retreat, and we can offer a wide range of support programmes during your stay with us.
From Bible Teaching - various topics - to Worship Leading - to dance as a form of worship, prayer and a range of other activities.
We are based on the wonderful panoramic Northumberland coastline which is literally 5 minutes drive away, but also have access to the beautiful Northumbrian Countryside and Cheviot hills which are only 30 minutes drive.
Pleas see our Mission House Christian Retreat Section on this website, or visit our Mission House Retreat page on facebook.
Our first registered wedding service took place in the church on October the 12th 2018. The Couple Ian Sidney Wales married Linda Airey. Linda has attended our coffee mornings for over two years, and Sid has known Michael for many years.
The couple were pronounced man and wife after a beautiful service delivered by Rev Michael Hedley, the signing of the registars was overseen by Lindsey who is the appointed person for wedding services for the church. The wedding was attended by family and friends and they then had a function at the White House Club following the service. We wish them all of God's blessing and favour upon their marriage. Photographs of the service are below.
We held an Ashington Churches Together Harvest Supper in the Church on the 15th of October where £73.00 was raised for the local Wansbeck Food Bank.
The evening began with prayer, Psalm 65 verses 6 - 11 which talks about God supplying everything that we need in order that we can have a harvest
A local folk group called the "Canny Lads" were the entertainment for the night, along with a wonderful variety of food, and drinks. The evening closed with all 53 of us singing How Great is our God, and Rev Michael closing in prayer. Phoyographs of the event are below:
Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
The answer to the question posed by the Apostle Paul here is that even though we are battered by the world system with trials, with problems seemingly of great magnitude. Nothing absolutely nothing shall separate us from Christ Jesus. He is with us through the midst of our troubles. So never let anyone tell you that your prayer life or your Christian walk isnt right because you've got a few problems. Jesus still and always will love you.
Our Mission House, of 73 North Seaton Road, the annexe to the church has now been completed.
We are using the building for a variety of things such as a Christian retreat, where specific programmes can be tailored for each group of people staying. Examples of the type of programmes we will be delivering, will be Leading Worship, Prayer, and a wide range of other Christian Programmes.
While staying here visitors can use it to be simply a place of rest, meditation and prayer, or take part in the church programmes, or take part in a specially designed retreat bespoke programme.
We will also be using the venue for Debt Management, helping those in need, as well as music lessons, job searching and basic IT programmes.
We are very excited about this development, and if you require any further information, please contact us either by email or by telephone on 07879253072 or 07854 820012. The cost for staying here is £30.00 per night. Donations are also welcome.
Our Friday Diner at church is on the last Friday of every month from 12:00 till 2:00pm. Soup and sandwiches and a range of other hot meals will be available for each of the coming months. This is an outreach for those who may be lonely, or who maybe are just in need of company. There is no charge for the food but donations are welcomed. All donations from this monthly event go to Arab World Ministries Yemen
