Welcome to Word Of Life Church in the North East!

Welcome to Word Of Life WRU Church in the North East

The Word of Life Church North East was founded in 2010 in Ashington, by Pastor Michael and Lindsey Hedley along with 4 other founding members.

Word of Life Church North East meet every Sunday in our church building on North Seaton Road, Ashington from 10:30am till 12:30.

Word of Life Church in the North East are a Bible believing Church, who want to make an active impact in our community in Ashington in the North East of England to the Glory of God, by fulfilling the great commission which Jesus gave us to preach the Gospel, make disciples and baptise new believers.

Word of Life Church in the North East's purpose is to love, encourage and accept each other for who we are in Christ and to help each other on a daily basis.

Word of Life Church's services are based on praising God through lively and contemplative worship, prayer, teaching and sharing fellowship.    We also meet during the week for prayer meetings, Bible study and informal fellowship.

We work with a range of organisations including Care homes for the elderly as well as other churches in the North East and in particular the Northumberland area.

Word of Life Church in the North East in Ashington now offers you the opportunity to get to know more about us and if you are searching for God look at the following section.

How Do I Become A Christian?

We are all sinners.  The Bible tells us that we are all sinners and have all fallen short of the Glory of God.  Whether we have told a lie, stolen anything, been angry with someone, or even thought about committing adultery, we have sinned.  When we stand before God as we all must do we will have to give an account of our sins. And we will have no excuse before Him.

Imagine if you were in court and had been accused and found guilty of a crime you had committed, and you were waiting for the sentence to be announced, then someone came and says to the judge, I will pay his or her fine, or spend the time in prison for them, how do you think you would feel?

Well thats what Jesus did for us.  God is a just judge and he has to punish sin, so what he did was to send Jesus to earth to pay our fine for our sins.  Jesus died on a cross 2000 years ago so that we could be forgiven for our sins, what an amazing deal!

That is called amazing grace.  If you want to be forgiven for your sins and really desire to live a new life on this earth as well as spending eternity with God, then we appeal to you to get right with God now!

No matter how bad you think you are, there is no sin that God will not forgive.  We all have a past, we all need a friend and we all want to spend our future with the one who loves us the most and that is God.  He loves us so much that He sent His Son Jesus to die for our sins that we might have everlasting life.  Speak to God now and say the following prayer:

Lord Jesus Christ

I am sorry for the things I have done wrong in my life.  I ask you for forgiveness.  I repent of all my sins.  Thank you for dying on the cross for me to set me free from my sins.  Please come into my life and fill me with Your Holy Spirit today and be with me forever.

    Dear Michael and Lindsey Hedley,

My husband and I are planning to retire to Newbiggin in July/August of this year. We visit about once every 3 weeks at the moment. Please could you tell me a little bit more about the ethos/mission of your church? I assume that you are a married couple who pastor the church? What are your views on women leaders and outreach? We attend a C of E church at the moment where I am a PCC member but I have attended a number of more charismatic churches in the past and am looking for a church that has a more lively approach to worship, considers prayer ministry to be very important and seeks to impact the local community in practical ways, such as helping the homeless, supporting families in need, visiting those members of the community who are lonely/bereaved/sick.

I was baptized by full immersion when in South Africa where I lived for 22 years. I believe in the healing power of the Holy Spirit and that Christianity is not a religion but a relationship with Jesus.

    Yours in Christ

    Carol Taylor-Spedding

Prayer for Today

Dear Lord I praise You and exalt You. I thank you that I am poor in spirit and needy.  That need is to desire You more.  Thank you Lord that You think of me and that You are my help and my deliverer.  I know that when I cry to You, You do not delay in answering me, because I know that if I ask for anything of the Father in the name of Jesus, you will bring it to pass. O Gracious Lord let Your will be done in me and through me. I pray these things in Jesus Mighty Name.  Amen.

Wedding Service

Our first registered wedding service took place in the church on October the 12th 2018.  The Couple Ian Sidney Wales married Linda Airey.  Linda has attended our coffee mornings for over two years, and Sid has known Michael for many years.

The couple were pronounced man and wife after a beautiful service delivered by Rev Michael Hedley, the signing of the registars was overseen by Lindsey who is the appointed person for wedding services for the church.  The wedding was attended by family and friends and they then had a function at the White House Club following the service.  We wish them all of God's blessing and favour upon their marriage.  Photographs of the service are below.

Harvest Supper

We held an Ashington Churches Together Harvest Supper in the Church on the 15th of October where £73.00 was raised for the local Wansbeck Food Bank.

The evening began with prayer, Psalm 65 verses 6 - 11 which talks about God supplying everything that we need in order that we can have a harvest

A local folk group called the "Canny Lads" were the entertainment for the night, along with a wonderful variety of food, and drinks.  The evening closed with all 53 of us singing How Great is our God, and Rev Michael closing in prayer.  Phoyographs of the event are below:

Verse for Today

Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  Shall tribulation, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

The answer to the question posed by the Apostle Paul here is that even though we are battered by the world system with trials, with problems seemingly of great magnitude.  Nothing absolutely nothing shall separate us from Christ Jesus.  He is with us through the midst of our troubles.  So never let anyone tell you that your prayer life or your Christian walk isnt right because you've got a few problems.  Jesus still and always will love you.

Alpha Course

We are holding our first Alpha Course, commencing on the 5th of September starting at 6 o clock.  We are delighted to be able to commence this course as part of our outreach.  If you know anyone who would like to come, first ask them and bring them along with you.  The sessions will begin with food and then discussions.  The first session will be "Is there more to life than this.". In this session we will be discussing, what does Christianity have to do with life today?  What Am I doing on earth? What is the point of life and where am I heading?

Word of Life Mission House

Our Mission House, of 73 North Seaton Road, the annexe to the church has now been completed.

We are using the building for a variety of things such as a Christian retreat, where specific programmes can be tailored for each group of people staying.  Examples of the type of programmes we will be delivering, will be Leading Worship, Prayer, and a wide range of other Christian Programmes.

While staying here visitors can use it to be simply a place of rest, meditation and prayer, or take part in the church programmes, or take part in a specially designed retreat bespoke programme.

We will also be using the venue for Debt Management, helping those in need, as well as music lessons, job searching and basic IT programmes.

We are very excited about this development, and if you require any further information, please contact us either by email or by telephone on 07879253072 or 07854 820012.  The cost for staying here is £30.00 per night.  Donations are also welcome.

Friday Diner

Our Friday Diner at church is on the last Friday  of every month from 12:00 till 2:00pm.  Soup and sandwiches and a range of other hot meals will be available for each of the coming months.  This is an outreach for those who may be lonely, or who maybe are just in need of company.  There is no charge for the food but donations are welcomed. All donations from this monthly event go to Arab World Ministries Yemen

Once again this year it was a great priviledge for our rapidly growing Church Family to witness yet another baptism.  Gordon gave his life to Jesus in July earlier this year and he went through the waters of baptism at Bedlington Trinity Church.  A fantastic time was had by all and we truly rejoice that his life is now heading in a new Holy Spirit filled direction.
